Born in north western reaches of South Africa, grew up in Johannesburg, initially schooled in Johannesburg, then spent four years in Swaziland, then 10 plus years in London, back in Johannesburg, then in late 1990s was based in Gaborone, Botswana and worked across the southern African region, covering the 11 member countries of SADC on the continent. Great work.
Most tertiary education in London. Trained as a virologist, then human nutritionist. Some limited tertiary education in Johannesburg - courses in social anthropology, psychology and sociology. Very enlightening and educating.
Worked as laboratory assistant [which was way too solitary for me, so left the field]; then taught at secondary school level [in particular the sciences and mathematics - subjects either denied or limited availability for people of colour living under apartheid]; started doing very limited advocacy on HIV around the first real findings about the virus; entered the civil sector in mid 1980s and remained in the sector till the early 2000s. Upon return from Botswana took leave of formal employ and did projects/consultancies I believed in and enjoyed [A luxury for anyone, of course!]. Have been consulting on specific projects and progammes and projects, still enjoy working with entities in the civil sector, and also am enjoying consulting with individuals on wellness using non-allopathic modes of attaining wellness.
Soon hope to make a huge leap of faith and start anew in a new country, mainly to locate myself so I may start writing seriously. Also to educate myself in a more formal context and to locate people abd groups who have a greater sense of threats to the Earth and what we may do to impact such threats so that human beings can leave a sound legacy for future generations to come. Way too higher order to achieve, of course, however still a good goal to keep focussed on.
In time, I shall add more bits and pieces. For now the above certainly suffices, I feel.
