I live in Queens County, New York. I have a wonderful wife and two children. I heard about JUST CAUSE from my dear Cousin's husband, Dorian Adams, Publisher of JUST CAUSE. I think this website is an excellent means by which people who are doing good things in this world can extend and amplify those good things; thereby making our world a better place, one cause at a time. 9/11 was a defining moment for me as well as so many other people. I really felt a need to give back. I own a small, commercial real estate company with property in Richmond Hill (Queens County), New York. I love this community and respect those who keep it safe and clean. I discovered that the exercise equipment in our local police stations, fire houses and sanitation garages was grossly inadequate. That is why I started an initiative to say thank you in a very practical way - helping cops, firefighters and sanitation workers stay in shape. Their jobs can be physically demanding. Anything we can do to help them get into shape and stay in shape we should do. Through my company, I made tax-deductible contributions in the past few years approximating $20,000.00 to non-profit entities for the express purpose of paying for strength and cardio fitness equipment to completely outfit the local police station, fire house and sanitation garage. The theme of my giving is making New York's "Finest", "Bravest" and "Strongest" even stronger! Helping the helpers in your neighborhood is a win-win situation. I hope what I have done locally will focus people's attention on the need for adequate physical fitness equipment in police stations, fire houses and santiation garages in local communities throughout this country and will strike a chord in people to acknowledge the service of their local police officers, fire fighters and sanitation workers and show their gratitude by helping those who help us, before tragedy strikes again.
