After 17 years as a software engineer at University of Washington Computing & Communications, this spring I finally made a headfirst jump into the private sector, when I joined JUST CAUSE as the Director of Technology. Having the best job in the world at UW, nobody ever thought I would leave. But the JUST CAUSE story was just too compelling -- I get to work on cool technology with a fantastic group of friends, take photos for a national print magazine, and save the world -- how could I pass that up? It has been a great ride so far -- going from an organization with tens of thousands of people, to a tiny startup has been a huge culture shift.

My primary role here is anything and everything related to this website. If you find any glitches (not that that will be difficult at this point) or if you have any brilliant suggestions for the site, send them my way. My other role here is photographic -- many of the images you see on the site are mine (and you can see more at silentcolor.com), and as mentioned above, I will be doing some shooting for the JUST CAUSE print magazine as well.

As an avid hiker, most of my personal causes are environmentally oriented, though I have also been heavily involved in civil liberties issues, and Cuba policy reform.
