My Bio

Kurt Schwengel has been a classroom teacher for over 11 years. After graduating from UCLA where he played four year of varsity baseball he went on to obtain a Master's Degree in Education with an emphasis in technology and an M.B.A. from Pepperdine University.

Kurt began his teaching career in 1995 and immediately starting looking for ways to update the traditional kindergarten curriculum. His model was simple: Build a theme around what 5-year-olds like to do and create activities around those themes. His teaching style offers fun and a creative curriculum that allows children to explore and learn on their own while adhering to state academic standards. Kurt created Rock and Roll Kindergarten as a “rebellious” alternative to traditional practices.

Kurt travels all over the country presenting his curriculum and technology ideas to teachers.

Kurt's website www.RockAndRollKindergarten.com has become a hugely popular resource for thousands of teachers all over the country. He is also a "Google Certified Teacher" and well versed in classroom and personal technology.

Kurt is also the "Education Expert" for ehow.com. He help teachers with a wide variety of issues on a daily basis.

  • School’s Out For Summer!

I don’t think most people envy teachers during the 10 month school year but I have to believe that there are an awful lot of people out there in the workforce who envy teachers during the summer months.
