Bald Solidarity is a nonprofit organization in its first stages of genesis. The idea is to organize people to shave their heads, and to get people to sponsor the shavees. Then the money goes to assist with eradicating the mistreatment of women worldwide. For 2009 the recipient organizations will be UNICEF's program to end female genital mutilation/cutting, and Guild of Service, an organization that works with Hindu widows in India, who are often shunned by their families and become homeless and destitute when their husbands die. The causes Bald Solidarity supports may change from year to year, depending on the opinions of our founders, sponsors, and participants. This being the first year, we are just wading through the details of getting started and learning about networking, fundraising, marketing, and such. And that's why we're here!
