BWB meeting at LL Monday 7PM

Hey all, here's Kitty's post from the other day, explaining what wil be covered on Monday:

Hey all,
After watching all of the crazy destruction this storm has caused in
Lewis and Grays Harbor counties (and Woodinville- wowsers!), Kay and I
chatted about starting up a local PNW Burners without Borders. A lot
of people down there have lost not only their homes, but every thing
they own. I say that we start with collecting items to donate.
Cloths, blankets, non-perishable food, kitchen supplies, bathroom
supplies, baby supplies, pet supplies, etc. Then, when the people are
allowed back into the area to assess the damage, we should go down and
help them get back on their feet. They are going to need a lot of help
cleaning and reconstructing. Hey, we are good at that!!!
In this vein, I call next Monday's Burner Night at the Lower Level as
the 1st PNW Burners without Borders meeting, at 7pm sharp!
Hope to see you there!
Kitty

food for thought - Monday meeting

Hey all- thanks for joining here-

I think it would be really helpful for Monday's meeting if we all bring as much information about affected areas and ideas for helping folks as we can.
Some of the things we learned in Mississippi  that may help us here:

~People are proud and not as quick to take help as you may think they'd be

keep cheerful and don't push it with folks. If they want to talk, listen, but don't pry. Stick to actions- how can I help you? Be specific.

~The shock of this event has not hit them and may not for a while

        tread lightly

~The impact of this event on aid workers (that's you) is not to be taken lightly

do you know any social workers or counselors who would be willing to work pro bono for aid workers associated with BWB?

~Aid costs more than we think it will.

do you have ideas for fundraising?

there's so much more, but these are my few thoughts this morning.

thanks! See you at the LL!
Amani
