Now in our 24th year of operation, Youth Theatre Northwest is located on Mercer Island, and we serve children and families from all over the area. We are a 501C(3) non-profit organization that features a balanced budget, thanks to income from classes and ticket sales, and generous support from donors, foundations and businesses. Our students and patrons come from over 10 different area communities.

Youth Theatre Northwest (YTN) stays true its mission: to nurture the intellectual, artistic and personal development of children and youth through drama education, performing opportunities and live theatre experiences. Our curriculum is designed to develop life skills such as confidence, critical and creative thinking, cooperation, and aesthetic sensitivity. It is not our mission to produce young actors.

YTN offers quarterly classes for kids 3-18, with no experience necessary. We also offer a full time summer program, offering weekly classes for all grades, throughout the entire summer. Registration is open to any and all and costs are kept very reasonable. We never close a class due to enrollment. We use the area's top professional educators and theatre artists.

YTN also presents eight Mainstage and 2 Studio Stage productions each year. These are "plays by kids, for kids." No adults take place in any of our productions, other than as teachers and mentors. Here, kids watch plays and seek to be one stage, and we help make their dreams come true. Parts in all of our plays are offered through auditions - which take place each March and September. Detailed information on classes, plays and auditions is available on our web site (www.youththeatre.org) and from our front desk (206-232-4145 x.100). We feature two wonderful performance spaces: a 200 seat professional Mainstage and a 75 seat, blackbox Studio Stage.

We sell tickets to the public to all of our shows (including subscriptions), available in person, by phone, or on line.

Each year we also offer a series of special events, including a student-cabaret and a student fringe festival (both in the spring). We are the perfect place to host a birthday party, bring a group for an event, rent out our facility for your own event, or take a whole class to see a wonderful classic children's story come to live on stage.

Our 2007-08 Mainstage Season (with shows always on Friday evenings at 7 pm, Saturday afternoon at 2 pm & evening at 7 pm, and Sunday afternoons at 2 pm) features:

Mr. Popper's Penguins: November 2 - 18 (with School Shows on November 7 & 15 - always at at 10 am and 12:30 pm)

Pippin: January 25 through February 10 (including school shows on January 30 & February 7)

A Little Princess: March 7 – 23 (including school shows on March 12 & 20)
