QUIET SKIES

Reduce air traffic noise by adjusting flight patterns and limiting hours of operation
1 supporter

The antiquated aircraft control system and the huge growth in air travel have combined to increase flights over Seattle neighborhood significantly.

Air traffic over Seattle has doubled in the past 10 years and will most likely double again in the next 10 years. Aircraft landing paths are backing out further and further into the neighborhoods. Local city and port officials turn a blind eye to this and direct criticism to the FAA.

The FAA is slow to change and there is no accountability to the citizens of Seattle. It does not deter aircraft from landing over neighborhoods at 2000 feet when the could be at flying at 5000 feet plus. It does not require late night flights between 10 pm and 6 am to fly over Elliott Bay to avoid neighborhoods.

If you are interested in making your voice heard on your own personal aircraft noise issues here is who you can contact. I would appreciate hearing about your issues as well:

1. The Port of Seattle itself at NoiseAbatement@portseattle.org

or take a look at their website http://www.portseattle.org/community/environment/noise.shtml

The website definitely has a lot of propoganda but has helpfull links.

2. Seattle Mayor Nickels office at mayor@crm.seattle.gov

3. Call the FAA directly at 425-227-1813

The more noise (no pun intended) these officials get the greater our chances of more peaceful neighborhoods and better sleep.
