In my third week as a new volunteer with WVC and the chore program, I really have to ask, "Who knew desk work could be so fun"?  I have been employed steadily since I was fifteen, and all of those jobs have been in the food industry; which I love.  So it was very unexpected when I found that working from a desk can be just as satisfying, especially if you're doing something that makes you feel like you've accomplished something.

That said, I am very pleased with the responses I've received from church congregations about recruiting new volunteers.  So far, the process has been creeping by slowly, but I have confidence that more responses will keep coming in if I can get over my fear of pestering people.  In that respect, food service has prepared me for that aspect of the job: having the guts to speak to anyone, and not get your feelings hurt if the response isn't the one you wanted.
