"Love One Another" And Other Good Deeds

I had the good fortune of being invited to Mosaic's birthday bash, to celebrate their 2nd year as a congregation. I had a good time at the event- good music, good food, and good people. Even though I didn't initially know anyone at the event, just 'breaking bread' with them sparked conversation.

I attended the event to thank Mosaic for all the hard work they've done for Chore. They undertook several projects, one of which included cleaning out a storage center for an elderly woman. They did such a fantastic job, even took her copper to be recycled so she could earn extra money. If it weren't for Mosaic, I don't think it would have gotten done!

I appreciate the mission of Mosaic, which includes eating together! But for the community, Mosaic strives to help wherever needed. Their goal is to be invaluable to Bellingham. There is a long laundry list of serving community needs that they've accomplished in just one year. This includes everything from Chore projects to distributing wool socks downtown, to organizing workspace for a local non-profit. They've done household projects for deployed soldiers, helped a new mother with MS, and handed out sandwiches to the homeless. The group regularly helps Whatcom Middle School, in effort to make a beautify school for the students. For Western students, you may have seen Mosaic members handing out coffee and doughnuts on move-in day for the residence halls.

Mosaic has such a good attitude about helping everyone in the community- even the invisible populations. No project is too big or too small for their assistance. And why do they give so much? Because they've been told to "love one another." That's a mission anyone can uphold, and Mosaic is certainly practicing it.
