The Commission's annual environment conference – took place on 1-4 June. The focus this year was on biodiversity. More than 120 speakers looked at the state of biodiversity in Europe and the world, the benefits it brings, present-day pressures and possible solutions to the current rates of loss. The path to be taken by EU policies on biodiversity and nature post-2010, the economic dimension of biodiversity, ecosystem services and Natura 2000 were also discussed.
