Lower Your Carbon Footprint at Home
Posted August 24th, 2007 by Byron McCann
Check out www.sokets.com . They will be coming out with a consumer energy management solution so you can easily reduce your energy consumption with a "hibernation" approach. Why use energy when you don't need it?
If we all did this, think of the impact we'd contribute toward solving climate change problems without any sacrifice.

I saw these guys present as well, and their hearts (and brains!) are in the right place! I think their passion for making truly useful products that make an impact is great. Looking forward to using their products when they start rolling it out this fall.
Smart Strip
I recently bought a "Smart Strip" from Gaiam/Solar Living. It has a "control outlet" that you plug your mine devise into, like your computer. when you shut your computer off (or unplug your laptop) the power strip shuts off a bunch of other outlets for peripherals (like a monitor or printer, scanner, etc).
It is hard to tell, because i travel a bunch, but from one month to the next it looks like my energy bill dropped by 20% (which is not that much since i live alone and don't use much energy to begin with!)
