Hot Hyatt Hotel!

The Hyatt at Olive 8 in Seattle is on target to be the first LEED certified hotel in Seattle.  (LEED is the Green Building Councils rating system for sustainability in design.) This Hyatt has gone beyond the typical “hang your towel up if you don’t want us to wash it” approach to sustainability. (But for what it’s worth, we hang up our towels and think you should to, that’s huge, even though it may not seem like it.)  They’ve switched out conventional toilets for low-flow, landscaped with plants that need less water, and all that stuff.  But they’ve done some things that we think are particularly neat:
-75% of the interior spaces have ample daylight.
- 8,355 square foot green roof that does everything from stabilizing interior temperatures, reducing runoff when it rains, and providing plants to clean the air, to just looking great.
- They’re using non-toxic cleaning supplies.
- And our favorite, they offer toxin free dry cleaning services for guests.

There's are quite a few

There's are quite a few hotels in Seattle that are moving toward a greener approach to business. LEED certification is a great way to go if a company can afford the added cost and time for construction.
