QKids: Meet Justin
8.29.2008
A Family for Me is WACAP's
project to help find families for local kids in foster care. These kids are
featured on "QKids" every Monday at 8:45 a.m. on Q13-FOX.
Justin will appear on QKids on Monday, Sept. 1. His quiet demeanor and endearing smile, paired with a curiosity about the world around him and a desire to be on the move, make him wonderfully unique. He’s proud of the medals he won recently in the Special Olympics baseball championship and looks forward to being on the team again next year. He also loves playing video games. Justin is learning to care for animals in his new foster home. He responds well to adult attention, supervision and guidance. The most important thing for Justin is a family who will provide time, love and attention to help him succeed. If you have any questions about A Family for Me or QKids, please call us at 1-800-732-1887 or by e-mail. (For general questions about WACAP and adoption, call 206-575-4550 or 1-800-732-1887.)
Help us pack our bags
These well-traveled suitcases are stuffed with donations for orphans in India
and Thailand. When WACAP's staff members return with empty bags, we'll need
your help filling them up again with new clothes, toiletries, school supplies
and other in-kind donations.
Over the years, we've delivered literally tons of supplies to orphanages this
way. Your gifts can make a world of difference to a child. Check
here for guidelines,
and
how you can help.
Russia Milk Fund Receives $25,000 Grant
8.18.2008
We're pleased to announce that WACAP has received a $25,000 P&G Live, Learn and Thrive grant from Procter & Gamble to help us expand the Russia Milk Fund. To date, due to financial constraints, Russia Milk Fund support has been limited to only those children with the most acute health problems. But this year, WACAP has committed to bringing this critical program to all the children in the institutions served by the Milk Fund in three Russian regions. Now, thanks to the P&G grant, your donation to the Russia Milk Fund is matched, dollar for dollar, up to $25,000! Please make a gift to the Russia Milk Fund today. Your online donation will be processed through PayPal on a secure server. Or call us at 206-575-4550 to donate. WACAP has worked in Russia since 1993, and has found families for more than 800 Russian children.
Employee of the Month
8.28.2008
Elana Roschy, India adoption manager, is WACAP's Employee of the Month.
For four years, Elana has guided families through the India adoption process with patience, confidence
and professionalism. One of her colleagues gushed,
"Although I hesitate to say that anyone here at WACAP is perfect, Elana comes pretty close."
Added another: "Elana is patient, persistent, level-headed, and caring with her families. Her calm manner is reassuring to both families and WACAP staff who work with her. Elana has a quiet façade, but underneath she has a wonderful sense of humor, and she is a
very strong person."
